Butch Ross
"New York"

Here's a refreshing change of pace. New York has always been home to an anti-folk movement - mostly young acoustic-punk writers/players who feel snubbed by the folk scene, which can be pretty insular - and elitist. This guy, Butch Ross, has a sharp wit and an eye for detail, and Trenton, not the Big Apple, is the center of his poetic universe. I liked this scathing portrait of artistes who have come to live out the tired old dream.
