Jay Ungar & Molly Mason
"Ashokan Farewell"
.

The first time I heard this tune, my wife and I were listening to our favorite Sunday night folk show on WHUS. I was working in my study and my wife was in hers. About half-way through the evening, this song came on. Simultaneously, we both stopped what we were doing and came out to the living room and just stared at the radio. Nothing like that has happened before or since.

You may have heard this heart-achingly beautiful fiddle tune on the soundtrack of Ken Burns' now-famous "Civil War" PBS documentary. But you may not know that it's actually a recent composition and you may not have had a chance to just sit and listen to its haunting strains. Here's your chance to download it free.

Once you hear this tune, you'll never forget it. It will last as long as there are fiddlers to play it.

It's the only track listed on this mp3.com page:
