Sun 5th Dave Burland & Sid Kipper
http://www.stirrings.co.uk/folkzone/artistes/Burland/index.html
(The Hawth, Crawley)
http://www.hawth.co.uk
Since 1971 Dave Burland has released six solo albums, and other
recordings have included "Songs of Ewan McColl", with
Dick Gaughan and Tony Capstick, and "Just Act Normal",
with Hedgehog Pie plus countless session appearances on other
artists' records, including Nic Jones, Richard Thompson and Swan
Arcade, to name but a few. See also the Folkzone website at http://www.stirrings.co.uk/folkzone/index.html
Sun 5th Andy Irvine
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7484/airvine.html
(Bromley Acoustic Club, Kent)
Solo performance by the wonderful Irish bouzouki player, a member
of Patrick Street, and still fondly remembered for his work with
Paul Brady.
Wed 8th Les Barker
http://www.compulink.co.uk/~ackroyd/welcome.htm
(The Albert Hole, Bristol 0117 966 1968)
Les began his career as assistant to Mrs Ackroyd, a small hairy
mongrel who lay around in folk clubs, bit people and became famous.
Mrs Ackroyd was the only dog ever to own her own record label.
Since her sad demise, Les is mainly a solo performer, though he
has taken to working with humans from time to time. The Mrs Ackroyd
Band gradually evolved from an ever-changing who's who of the
folk scene into a tightly knit, well-rehearsed group. "...he
may be the best writer of parodies and wordplays that the English-
speaking world has ever heard." Tom Nelligan, Dirty Linen
Fri 31 La Bottine Souriante
http://www.millepattes.com/Anglais/bottine/index.html
(The Hogmanay Celebrations, Waverley Street, Edinburgh)
"Big band entertainment at its most mighty, this pumping
and grooving nine-piece, belts out a fantastic wall of sound.
Traditional tunes churned from chugging accordion and silvery
fiddle are fire branded with huge jazzy horns, a merciless rhythm
section, funky piano licks and glorious chorus line harmonies.
All this plus the stupefying fast foot percussionist Michel Bordeleau,
will have you double-taking in disbelief."
